Dodge Ram mins 24v Vs. 12v?

I owned a 96 dodge 3500 12 valve mins but I had to sell it. Now I want to get me another one but Im not sure what to get, I hear that the 12v is still the most powerfull mins, and that the 24v is also strong but it has too many wires ran to it compared to the 12v ones. The main difference I noticed between the two of them is the noise, it appears to me that the 24v is louder than the 12v. I personally dont care too much about the newest body style, I prefere to get an 01 and bellow. If anyone can help me with this dilema I 'll be very thankful
