How long would a bale of timothy hay last without going bad? How do you store it?

I'm contemplating getting a full-sized bale for one chinchilla, but I'm not sure it wouldn't get moldy or w/e before the chilla could eat it all. And how should I store it? I don't have a barn or anything.
