How can I break down this frozen raw food?

I bought a log of frozen raw food for my pets. It says on the package to only defrost the portion you plan to use. I don't know how you could defrost only a portion of it with it being one giant frozen log. At the store the kid told me that I could defrost it, cut it up, and refreeze it. Although I thought there were issues with defrosting and then refreezing raw foods. How can I break this down for more than one meal? It's got like 10 servings in it!
